Holiday Overview

Yukshin Gardan Sar is surrounded by famous peaks such as Khunyang Chhish and Kanjut Sar, creating a symphony of awe-inspiring summits. The Yazghil and Yukshin Gardan glaciers add to the region's glacial grandeur, heightening the attractiveness of this pristine area. The first successful ascent to the summit of Yukshin Gardan Sar occurred in 1984, thanks to a devoted Pakistani-Austrian Expedition led by Rudolf Wulzer. Their selected route, the difficult South Ridge, provided the route to this extraordinary achievement. Following this accomplishment, two more ambitious attempts were attempted, the most recent of which occurred in 1986. Since then, the summit has remained unconquered, calling future explorers to put their skills to the test.

The Yukshin Gardan Sar Expedition begins in Hispar, Gilgit-Baltistan, in the heart of the Nagar Valley, where the appeal of the mountains and glaciers inspires the spirit of exploration. While there is an alternative route from Baltoro through the Biafo Glacier, the approach via Nagar Valley and the Hispar Glacier is more accessible and shorter, making it the preferred choice for many. The best time to climb to the summit is during Pakistan's summer months, from May to August when the mountain exposes its breathtaking grandeur.

The backdrop for this expedition is the Karakoram Mountain Range, a beautiful chain of mountains that crosses the landscapes of Pakistan and China. This range is known for housing some of the world's most renowned peaks, such as the legendary K2 and Gasherbrum, and for encouraging daring explorers to share in their splendor.

The Karakoram Mountains, which stretch over 500 kilometers in length and 200 km in width, delicately combine with the Hindukush and Himalaya Mountains at various spots, producing a smooth transition between these geological wonders. The region's water network, which includes the Hunza water and the huge Indus River, adds to its beauty.

Join the Yukshin Gardan Sar Expedition and join the ranks of explorers who have ventured to ascend the heights of this extraordinary peak in the heart of the Karakoram Mountains. It's a tour that promises not only the thrill of conquering but also the chance to see the unspoiled grandeur of huge mountains and vast glaciers in one of the world's most intriguing corners.

Important Trip Notes

Important Notes

Why should you register as soon as possible?

  1. Team building: Creating a good team takes time. We review all incoming applications and build the best team of mountaineers (based on experience). Although our vet process is not stringent, the safety of our fellow climbers is always our primary priority. We will not accept all applications in order to increase the number of mountaineers.
  2. Logistics: Our climbing adventures require a lot of planning. This includes pre-reserving/assigning high-altitude porters, guides, and other personnel. It also necessitates a significant amount of procurement (equipment, food, etc.). This is not doable in the last hours. During winter expeditions, most supplies are delivered to base camps two to three months before the expedition since winters in Pakistan's mountains are extremely harsh, making it nearly difficult for porters to go down the trail with heavy supplies.
  3. Permit: According to Pakistani government tourism legislation, tour operators must submit applications for climbing (together with all papers such as passport copies, pictures, CVs, and so on) at least 70 days before their arrival in Pakistan.
  4. Domestic Flights: If you do not pay your deposit on time, we may be unable to book you on a domestic flight to Skardu. Because there are only two flights to Skardu during high season, domestic flight seats sell out quickly. This is a severe matter.
  5. Price changes: The prices listed are early bird specials and are subject to change. Price rises are possible after January. In peak season, service providers such as (but not limited to) hotels raise their costs. Early reservations are less expensive than those made during peak season (May to September). Our prices do not change once the deposit is paid, so the price you see when you book is the amount you will pay. Register early to avoid price increases for your vacation.
  6. Pay a lower deposit: Our deposit scheme for 2024 departures is shown below.
  • 8 months prior to departure (deposit of 35%)
  • 6 months prior to departure (deposit of 40%)
  • 5 months prior to departure (deposit of 50%)
  • Four months prior to leaving (full payment)

Note: The same deposit time frames above apply to 2024-25 departures.
